“Day Of Destiny” (stylized as DOD) is an adventure film that follows the adventures of two teenage brothers, Chidi and Rotimi, who travel to the past to change their family’s financial fate but end up risking everything they’ve ever known. Even though the movie comes out on the 1st of January 2021, we already know it’s going to be the biggest movie of the year. Here are 4 reasons why.
- It’s Nollywood’s first-ever time travel movie: Judging by the fact that the movie’s trailer has gone viral, movie-lovers everywhere are excited to see a Nollywood movie experiment with the concept of time travel.
- The Cast: The roles of Chidi and Rotimi are played by Olumide Oworu and Denola Grey respectively. The cast is rounded up by Nollywood A-listers such as Norbert Young, Ireti Doyle, Jide Kosoko, Toyin Abraham, Ini Dima-Okojie, and Blossom Chukwujekwu.
- The mix of science and juju: Time travel in the movie is made possible by a babalawo named Babayaro (played by Broda Shaggi) using an ancient art he calls Electromagnetic-afrojujuristic science.
- Inkbot Productions and Anthill Studio’s first official collaboration: Inkblot and Anthill have collaborated in the past as Niyi Akinmolayan directed three of Inkblot’s films Out of Luck, The Arbitration and The Set Up. Anthill studios have always been in charge of post productions for most Inkblot Films. But DOD is the first time the two production companies will be partnering on a film project.
